It was way back in 1922 that a few guys from High Pavement Grammar School in Nottingham had the gem of an idea to establish an Old Boys Rugby Club.

Little is known of the first few years of High Pavement Rugby Club and their maroon and green strip but in 1927 a split occurred and from this came Nottingham Casuals.

In 1929 High Pavement Rugby Club affiliated to the Rugby Football Union and to Notts Lincs and Derby the following year. The name was changed to Old Paviors Rugby Football Club in 1930 and a further change to our current name occurred in 1976.

Over 20 teams of men, women, boys and girls are supported by the club.

Dice & Balls CIC – a non-profit Community Interest Company that’s all about creating inclusive and fun experiences for the benefit of the local community.

As the name suggests, there are two sides to the company.

  • Dice – We run board game and Role Playing Game (RPG) events. Our focus here is to help those who may feel socially isolated – whether because of social anxiety, learning difficulties, neurodivergent conditions, or simply because they’re new to the area and don’t know anyone yet. Our events are for everyone who want to connect with others.
  • Balls – We run circus skills workshops which enable people, whatever their age, background or ability, to do amazing things, building their confidence and creating a real sense of achievement in the process. Our workshops are designed to help the participants discover their inner performer and explore their creativity.

This beautiful place was designed in the early 1880s to pump millions of gallons of clean fresh water every day to the rapidly increasing population of Industrial Nottingham. Today, thanks to the endeavours of The Papplewick Pumping Station Trust, a Registered Charity dedicated to the preservation of the Pumping Station, and the enthusiasm of the volunteer members of the Papplewick Association you can still experience the most spectacular, preserved water Pumping Station in the British Isles.
